Pigeons Playing Ping Pong Biography

The American funk band known as Pigeons Playing Ping Pong was established in Baltimore, Maryland, in 2009. Founded by Greg Ormont, Jeremy Schon, Dan Schwartz, and Ben Carrey, the musicians met while attending the University of Maryland together and turned what was going to be just a fun “dorm project” into a full-time and successful band.

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong released the debut album Funk EP in the year following, and hit the road on their first tour. The studio albums Psychology (2014) and Pleasure (2016) followed, featuring the singles “Melting Lights,” “F.U.,” “Horizon,” “Julia,” “Walk Outside,” and “Time to Ride.”

Since their inception, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong has become known for their exhausting tour schedule, sometimes playing up to two hundred shows in any given year. The band continues to perform and record with the current lineup of, Ormont, Schon, Carrey, and Alex Petropulos, who replaced Dan Schwartz on drums. Pigeons Playing Ping Pong’s latest release, The Great Outdoors Jam (2017), is their first live album.
