Anthony Robbins Biography

American motivational speaker and philanthropist Tony Robbins was born in 1960 in North Hollywood, California. Robbins grew up in a rather tumultuous household as a child; his mother married and divorced a number of times, and by the time Tony was a teenager, she was suffering through drug and alcohol addiction. As a result, young Tony was often in charge of caring for his siblings, forcing him to develop a sense of responsibility at a very young age.

After leaving home at the age of seventeen, Robbins began working for Jim Rohn, promoting and managing his seminars. The experience inspired Tony, without any formal educational training in psychology, and with no college or university experience, to begin his own career as a self-help coach. After training in neurolinguistic programming under the tutelage of John Grinder, he began holding seminars to help participants overcome various fears and rise above obstacles. By 1991, Tony Robbins had published multiple books and hosted dozens of infomercials and countless seminars, rising to become one of the nation’s most sought-after motivational speakers.

Since that time, Tony Robbins has formed his own foundation, the Anthony Robbins Foundation, and penned the best-selling books: Unlimited Power, Awaken the Giant Within, and Money: Master the Game: Unlimited Power. His foundation and work related to it has assisted in programs implemented in thousands of prisons, schools, and various human service organizations.
