AnnaSophia Robb Biography
AnnaSophia Robb, born on December 8, 1993, in Denver, Colorado, is a multifaceted American artist known for her work as an actress, model, and singer. From an early age, Robb nurtured a deep passion for performing arts, beginning her career as a child actress on television. She made her screen debut with the leading role in "Samantha: An American Girl Holiday" (2004) and quickly transitioned to the silver screen with "Because of Winn-Dixie" (2005). Her role as Violet Beauregarde in Tim Burton's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (2005) gained her notable recognition, but it was her unforgettable performance as Leslie Burke in "Bridge to Terabithia" (2007) that truly catapulted her to stardom, earning her two Young Artist Awards. Throughout her career, she's been part of numerous successful projects such as "Race to Witch Mountain" (2009), "Soul Surfer" (2011), "The Way Way Back" (2013), and notably, the CW's series "The Carrie Diaries" (2013–2014), where she played the lead role of Carrie Bradshaw.
The only child of Janet, an interior designer, and David Robb, an architect, Robb grew up in a devout Christian household. Her heritage is a rich blend of Danish, English, Irish, Scottish, and Swedish. Home-schooled during her early years, she developed a love for acting while performing on her church stage. To hone her craft, she quit gymnastics and dance, which she pursued for over four years, and fully immersed herself in acting. She graduated from Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colorado, in 2012.
At just eight years old, Robb was scouted by an agent and soon started her acting journey. She appeared in commercials before landing a small role in the TV series "
Drake & Josh". This led to her first major role as the title character in the TV special "Samantha: An American Girl Holiday". 2005 marked a turning point in Robb's career as she starred in two adaptations of popular children's books - "Because of Winn-Dixie" and Tim Burton's remake of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". The latter was a massive worldwide box office hit, escalating Robb's popularity among preteen audiences. Aside from acting, she worked with Trad Clothing in 2005, designing and modeling a fashion line for girls.
Robb continued to leave her mark in the film industry with performances in films like "The Reaping", "Have Dreams, Will Travel", "Jumper", and "Spy School". Her role in "Sleepwalking" received high praise despite the film's overall negative reviews. In 2008, she voiced Mary Magdalene in "The Word of Promise: Next Generation – New Testament: Dramatized Audio Bible", and she also starred in "Race to Witch Mountain" (2009). One of her significant roles came in 2010, where she portrayed
Bethany Hamilton, a surfer who continued to pursue her passion after a devastating shark attack, in "Soul Surfer".
In 2012, Robb was cast as the young Carrie Bradshaw in The CW's "Sex and the City" prequel, "The Carrie Diaries". She later starred in "A Conspiracy on Jekyll Island", released as "The Crash" in 2017, alongside notable actors like Frank Grillo,
Ed Westwick, Dianna Agron, and others. She also played Alice Green in the PBS Civil War historical drama series "Mercy Street" from 2016 to 2017.
Robb's personal life includes a pursuit of education parallel to her acting career. She enrolled at New York University in 2014 and graduated in 2018. On a personal note, Robb announced her engagement to her boyfriend, Trevor Paul, on Instagram in September 2021, and the couple got married in a three-day celebration in September 2022, held within the picturesque Catskill and Shawangunk Mountains of New York state.
