Hoda Kotb Biography
The American news anchor and television personality Hoda Kotb was born in 1964 in Norman, Oklahoma. Hoda grew up in Virginia, where she excelled in her academic studies in high school and during her years at Virginia Tech. After graduating with her B.A. in Broadcast Journalism in 1986, Kotb began her career as a news assistant for CBS News in Cairo, Egypt.
Throughout the late 1980’s, Hoda served as general assignment reporter and anchor for a number of networks, including CBS in Greenwood, Mississippi and ABC in Moline, Illinois. The 90’s saw Kotb reporting for CBS New Orleans in Louisiana, until in 1998 she was offered the position as a national correspondent for NBC News, which led to a long-standing relationship with the NBC network.
Today, Hoda Kotb can be seen as co-host of NBC’s Today Show alongside Kathie Lee Gifford, earning her a Daytime Emmy Award in 2010. She also continues to serve as a correspondent for Dateline NBC.
In 2007, Hoda was diagnosed with breast cancer; she allowed the Today Show to follow her journey through mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, and she has since become a voice for breast cancer awareness. Hoda is the author of three books: Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer, and Kathie Lee; Ten Years Later: Six People Who Faced Adversity and Transformed Their Lives; and Where They Belong: The Best Decisions People Almost Never Made.
