G-Love & The Special Sauce Biography
The alternative hip-hop band G. Love & Special Sauce was created in the early 1990’s. Garrett Dutton had been performing around the Boston area when he met up with musicians Jim Prescott and Jeffrey Clemens to form the band. After releasing their self-titled debut album in 1994, and to their surprise the album nearly rose to gold status and spawned the hit MTV favorite, “Cold Beverage.”
Since then G. Love & Special Sauce has become a favorite on the festival circuit, with a strong fan base and loyal following. G. Love & Special Sauce has given fans the additional albums: Coast to Coast Motel (1995), Yeah, It’s That Easy (1997), Philadelphonic (1999), Electric Mile (2001), The Best of G. Love and Special Sauce (2002), The Hustle (2004), Superhero Brother (2008), and Long Way Down (2009.) In addition, G. Love has released the solo albums The Hustle, Fixin’ to Die, Lemonade, and Oh Yeah.
With the current lineup of G. Love, Clemens, and Timo Shanko, G. Love and Special Sauce continues to perform and record, bringing their unique blend of funk and blues to festivals and venues throughout the country.
